Algeria head coach Vladimir Petkovic says his side will now shift their attention to their game against Nigeria after overcoming DR Congo in the round of 16.

The Desert Foxes edged DR Congo in a tense clash, with the winning goal coming in the dying minutes of extra time.

The result means Algeria will take on Nigeria in the quarter-final on Saturday, January 10.

The Super Eagles had a relatively easy passage against Mozambique after thrashing the Mambas 4-0 on Monday, January 5.

Speaking after beating the Leopards, Petkovic said his side will now turn their focus to the game against the Super Eagles this weekend.

“We’ll start thinking about the Nigeria game now, concentrating on our strengths,” he said.

“The problem of getting three or four days of rest isn’t really a big deal right now. Our goal is to get ready mentally and physically for the upcoming game.”
