AFCON 2025: Osimhen applauds Onuachu, eyes Super Eagles’ next challenge

Victor Osimhen has lavished praise on Paul Onuachu following the Super Eagles’ impressive victory over Uganda at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Onuachu netted his first goal at the AFCON finals before Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika added a brace to make it 3–0.

Rogers Mato reduced the deficit for the Cranes, but it wasn’t enough for Paul Put’s side, as the three-time African champions secured a 3–1 victory to maintain their hundred percent record.

Sharing his reactions with reporters in the mixed zone, Osimhen, who captained the team, showered encomiums on Onuachu for netting the opener.

Paul Onuachu is family to me. I’ve known Paul for so many years. I’m happy about his first goal and how well he played.

“Honestly, we don’t talk about clubs because this is a national team mission.”

The 27-year-old added that the team is currently focused on their next game in the round of 16.

“We only focus on the Super Eagles and the games, so for me, we just talk about our next match in the round of 16.”
