Arsenal is one of the prestigious English clubs who plays in the English top flight, the Premier League. They have won 13 Premier League titles and a record 14 FA cups, 16 FA Community Shield and 2 League cups.

It is the third most successful English club in terms of trophies won, only Liverpool and Manchester United have won more.

Arsenal has a huge fan base in Nigeria courtesy Nwakwo Kanu’s stint with the English club from 1999 to 2004 where he made 119 appearances and scored 44 goals for the London club.

Today we look at some male Nigerian celebrities who are staunch Gunners:

Aliko Dangote

Africa’s richest businessman is a fan of the Arsenal football club. The business mogul has been linked with buying the English club in the past. The club is currently owned by Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE) an American business owned by Stan Kroenke

The Nigerian politician and the current Governor of Lagos State is a huge fan of Arsenal football club. He was seen on the streets of Lagos donned in his Arsenal jersey with ‘Bos’ inscribed behind the shirt some years ago. This got a lot of football fans talking on social media.

Atiku Abubakar

The ex- vice president is an ardent fan of the Gunners. The PDP presidential aspirant shows his love for the London-based club on his twitter handle as he mostly shares twits to celebrates Arsenal’s victory after games. He recently twitted calling Arsenal deserving winners in their 3-1 victory against United on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

For the music star, entertainment is not all about music but sports as well. The rapper is a big fan of Arsenal as he has shared pictures of himself in Arsenal jerseys at their live games in the past.

Abdulrasheed Bawa

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is another staunch Arsenal fan. The 41-year-old Detective and law enforcement agent was spotted at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday April 23, 2022, for the Gunner’s Premier League game against the Red Devils. The EFCC boss was seen wearing a Gunners cap and scarf smiling.

Arsenal are on course to securing a top-four spot following their recent impressive showing against Chelsea and United.

Their last appearance in the top four came in the 2015/16 season when they finished the Premier League as runners up to Leicester City.
