2026 World Cup Qualifier: Super Eagles opponent Zimbabwe appoint Brazilian new head coach

Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying opponent, Zimbabwe has appointed Brazilian, Baltemar Brito as their new head coach.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) made the announcement on their X handle on Thursday.

Brito will be assisted by Bongani Mafu and Genesis Mangombe.

The 71-year-old’s first assignment will be the friendly against Botswana on Saturday, September 30.

The former defender will combine the national team job with that of Zimbabwe Premier League club, Highlanders.

The Harambe Warriors will face the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on November 17 in Harare.
