Former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has issued a stern warning to the Super Eagles against underrating Gabon ahead of the crucial FIFA World Cup playoff clash.
Eric Chelle's side will lock horns with the Panthers in the semifinals of the playoffs on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
A victory for Nigeria would see the Super Eagles progress to the final CAF playoff, where they will face either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Speaking ahead of the game, the former Super Eagles captain warned the team not to underestimate Gabon, urging them to approach the match with full seriousness.
“Go into that game and play like this is the last game you will ever play in your life,” Mikel Obi said.
“Win that game, and then we can think about either Cameroon or someone else.
“The mistake we are going to make is to think it’s just Gabon; then we are done completely.”
