2026 WQC: Troost-Ekong fires warning to Super Eagles ahead of Zimbabwe clash

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has warned the team against complacency ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, March 25.

Eric Chelle's side will host the Warriors in their sixth qualifier encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as the three-time African champions look to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over Rwanda last Friday.

The victory against the Amavubi moved Nigeria to fourth place in Group C, with six points after five games.

Ahead of the matchday six encounter, Al-Khalood defender Troost-Ekong stated that the Super Eagles cannot afford to drop any more points.

“We are looking forward to a win. The three points are important to us. At this stage, we cannot afford to drop any more points,” Troost-Ekong said in a statement released by the NFF.

“Our aim is to take it one match at a time, collect three points here and there, and hope fervently that these will be enough to get us the ticket.”
