Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has declared the Super Eagles’ readiness ahead of their crucial World Cup playoff clash against Gabon.
The three-time African champions will take on the Panthers in the CAF playoff semifinal in Rabat later today (Thursday, November 11).
After a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, Nigeria managed to secure a playoff spot after finishing as one of the best second-placed teams on the continent.
The game will kick off at 5:00 p.m. local time, and a victory for the Super Eagles would see them face either the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon or DR Congo in the final playoff on Sunday, November 16.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Bassey stated that the team is heading into the game full of confidence.
“I think we started very slow, but now hope has been restored. We just have to make sure that we keep going and take the game as it comes. We are Nigeria, a massive nation, and we know there is a lot of expectation and responsibility,” Bassey told Sporty TV.
