The Super Eagles’ FIFA World Cup hope was handed a major boost after FIFA announced severe sanctions for South Africa for fielding an ineligible player in the qualifier clash against Lesotho.
The three-point deduction saw South Africa lose their top spot in Group C to Benin Republic.
Nigeria currently sits third in the group with 11 points, three points adrift of Benin Republic and South Africa in first and second place respectively.
According to reports, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will parade a strong starting lineup against Lesotho, as his side targets a huge scoreline to boost the team's confidence ahead of their final game against Benin Republic.
The Malian tactician also believes that a superior goal difference could swing things in favour of Nigeria, given the dynamics of the group.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Eric Chelle will set up his team in a 4-4-2 flat formation, instead of the usual 4-4-2 diamond.
The Malian tactician wants to start the game on the front foot, with Victor Osimhen and Tolu Arokodare leading the attack.
The duo are expected to be flanked by Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon, with Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi operating in the central midfield area.
