2023 African Games: Nigeria nears milestone medal achievement as Amusan, Brume prepare to compete

Nigeria is on the brink of making history as the first country to amass 300 medals in athletics at the African Games.

With 299 medals won, Nigeria will need just one more medal to achieve this remarkable milestone.

Nigeria is featuring prominently at the 13th edition of the games currently ongoing in Accra, Ghana.

According to the official medal table released on Tuesday morning, Team Nigeria has won a total of 78 medals including 27 gold, 21 silva and 30 bronze medals.

Nigeria currently sit in 2nd position on the medal table only behind Egypt who have amassed an astonishing 158 medals.

Nigeria's athletic queen, Tobi Amusan is set to compete in the games for the first time on Tuesday, March 19 (today).

The 26-year-old will compete in the heat 2 of the women's 100mH alongside her countrywoman Stella Ayanleke.

Ese Brume will also be competing in the women's long jump event together with Ruth Osoro and Pristina Ochonogor.
