Real Madrid president and Board of Directors have expressed deep regret at the passing of Jesús de Miguel, a C. D. Tenerife player.

This was after Spanish second-division club CD Tenerife confirmed that Miguel died at the age of 30 after colliding with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a league match.

De Miguel died on Tuesday, November 3, a day after the incident at Tenerife’s Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.

The collision occurred late in the match. De Miguel went for a loose ball as Owono left his goal to clear it. The goalkeeper, outside his penalty area, collided with the striker, who was left unconscious on the pitch.

Medical staff treated De Miguel on the field for several minutes before taking him by stretcher to the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.

The match was level at 2-2 and was abandoned in the 108th minute so medical staff could attend to De Miguel. Owono was sent off following the collision.

Reacting, Madrid issued a statement expressing condolences and affection to his family, his teammates, his club, and all his loved ones.

"Jesús de Miguel has passed away at the age of 30. Rest in peace," the club said.
