Nigeria's Ambassador to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has hailed President Bola Tinubu as the first Nigerian president to visit Vatican City and kiss the Ka'abah, Islam's holiest site in Mecca.

According to him, the feat is a remarkable display of religious tolerance, interfaith understanding, and commitment to the religious freedoms of the Nigerian people,

He shared on X, "His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is the first and only Nigerian leader to have visited the symbolic heart of the Roman Catholic Church, when he attended Pope Leo XIV's inauguration at St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, on Sunday, May 18, 2025, as well as the holiest place in Islam, the Kaaba, which is located inside the Masjid al-Haram, which the President visited some hours ago.

"Nigeria is blessed to have a dynamic leader under whom people of all beliefs and ethnicities can say they have a leader who cares for them and fosters their ability to practice their faiths and ways of life."
