Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has hailed FC Barcelona following his side’s defeat to the Spanish champions in the UEFA Champions League.
Hansi Flick’s troops came from a goal down to secure a resounding 4-1 victory over the Yellow and Reds at RAMS Park on Tuesday, October 13.
Goals from João Cancelo, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi ensured that Aleksey Batrakov’s opener counted only as a consolation for the Süper Lig giants.
The loss means Galatasaray are winless in their opening two games in the UCL this season, having also lost to Sporting Lisbon in their opening match.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo after the game, Buruk hailed the telepathy between the Barcelona players, which made it difficult for his side to cope.
“We played against players who know each other by heart. They are like a complete machine. We feel sad because we lost.”
Buruk, however, praised his team for their effort and for proving that they can go toe-to-toe with some of the continent’s elite clubs.
“We proved that we are a team that deserves to play in the Champions League, whether through the pitch or the atmosphere created by our fans.”
