Super Falcons trio of Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre and Oluwatosin Demehin have pulled out of the squad for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers against Comoros.

According to Complete Sports, veteran striker Oshoala has asked for permission to be excused from the qualifier and has been replaced by Blessing Okpe, who plies her trade in Belarus.

Ashleigh Plumptre also withdrew from the qualifiers after sustaining a ligament injury.

Demehin and Flourish Sabastine will also not be available for the game due to issues concerning their residence permits.

The 10-time African champions began their preparation for the Olympic qualifiers on Monday, October 5, in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Fourteen players participated in the team’s first training session held on Monday evening.

Eleven players are expected to join the team, including the likes of Michelle Alozie, midfielders Christy Ucheibe and Jennifer Echegini, as well as captain Rasheedat Ajibade and forward Gift Monday.

The Falcons will face Comoros at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Friday, October 9.

The second leg will be held at the same venue on Tuesday, October 13. This is because Comoros do not currently have a CAF-approved stadium capable of hosting an international match, forcing the second-round qualifier to be staged entirely on Nigerian soil.
