Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle is shining his armour ahead of the Super Eagles' second game in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau.

The Super Eagles will be looking to topple the Wild Dogs in what is dubbed a top-of-the-table clash in Group L.

Both sides go into the game level on three points after opening wins, though Guinea-Bissau currently lead the group on goal difference following their 2-0 victory over Tanzania.

With co-hosts Tanzania already assured of their place at the 2027 tournament, only one qualification spot remains up for grabs between Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau, adding extra sharpness to this clash.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 4:00 pm local time (5:00 pm Nigerian time) at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau.

Goalkeeper

Despite the arrival of Udinese's Maduka Okoye, Stanley Nwabali is expected to retain his place between the sticks for the Super Eagles. Okoye and Arthur Okonkwo are expected to be on the bench for Nigeria.

Defenders

Eric Chelle is likely to start with the same back four he used against Madagascar. Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi will start at the heart of defense, with Ola Aina and Bruno Onyemaechi as full backs.

Midfielders

Chelle is expected to ring some changes in the middle of the field. OwnGoalNigeria reports that skipper Wilfred Ndidi will be benched for this game, with Coventry City's Frank Onyeka taking his place.

Alex Iwobi is expected to captain the team and will pair with Onyeka in central midfield.

Attackers

George Ilenikhena and Akor Adams, who both started and impressed against Madagascar, are doubts for this game after missing Sunday's training session with knocks picked up in that match. Should they be unavailable, Coventry City's Taiwo Awoniyi and Ajax loanee Tolu Arokodare are the leading candidates to lead the line, with Moses Usor also in contention after his debut winner against Madagascar.

Ademola Lookman is expected to keep his place in the attack regardless of how the frontline shapes up.
