A video has surfaced showing workers of the defunct Anambra State Water Corporation protesting over unpaid salaries.

The Anambra State Government shared the video to debunk claims by former state governor Peter Obi that he owed no salaries during his tenure.

Obi had issued a statement denying allegations by the state Commissioner for Finance about the debt his successor inherited from his administration.

He said, “As at the day I left office, I was not owing any salary, pension, or gratuity that Anambra State Government is supposed to pay.

“I was not owing any supplier or contractor that had executed his job and his documents processed, not one.

“The day I left office, I paid what was due to be paid. I wasn’t owing any contractors.”

Reacting, the Anambra State Government, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, issued a statement detailing all the debts and loans successive administrations inherited from Obi's tenure.

It then shared a video showing workers protesting against Obi's government's failure to pay their salaries.

Anambra State said, "H.E. Peter Obi, you said you owed no one. You lied. You vowed to quit your 2027 campaign if even one person was shown. Water Corporation staff protested. Records are clear; survivors still testify. Those debts are yet to be fully cleared even today. The records are clear!"
