The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has called on EgyptAir to deploy newer aircraft on its routes to Abuja and Lagos as Nigeria moves to strengthen aviation cooperation with Egypt.

Keyamo disclosed this after holding a bilateral meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the ongoing El Alamein International Airshow in Al Alamein, Egypt.

According to the minister, the meeting focused on areas of mutual interest aimed at deepening cooperation and improving the development of the air transport sector in both countries.

Keyamo said he used the opportunity to request that EgyptAir deploy newer aircraft for its operations to and from Abuja and Lagos.

He said both countries also agreed to review and fine-tune the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Egypt to reflect current realities in the aviation industry.

The minister said the discussions formed part of Nigeria’s broader efforts to deepen international aviation partnerships and strengthen cooperation in areas critical to the growth of the sector.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to explore measures that could improve air connectivity and enhance cooperation between Nigeria and Egypt in civil aviation.
