The lawmakers called for the immediate liberation of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, whom they accused of being unjustly detained for political reasons.

They contended that holding Mallam El-Rufai in custody raised serious concerns about the impartiality of anti-corruption efforts and whether politics influenced enforcement.

Labelling him a “political prisoner," they insisted he be freed promptly, emphasising that the fight against corruption must be free of political bias and not a tool against opponents.
