The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has wished long life and good health to the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar Muhammad.

Obi said the prayers as the monarch marks his 70th birthday.

In a post on social media, he said, "Happy 70th Birthday to His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto.

"Knowing Your Eminence for over forty years has given me a firsthand view of your remarkable wisdom, humility, and devotion to peace and national unity.

"I thank Almighty Allah for your life of dedicated service and pray that He continues to bless you with good health, long life, and greater wisdom to guide the faithful and contribute to the peace and progress of our nation.

"May the years ahead be filled with divine grace, peace, and fulfilled hopes as you continue your impactful and selfless service to humanity."
