Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians following coordinated military operations across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.

In an official update shared on X, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, confirmed that the successful operations form part of ongoing sustained efforts to neutralize criminal elements and protect communities across the North West region.

On August 19, 2026, troops on patrol in the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State responded to a terrorist ambush, forcing the assailants to retreat and rescuing five civilians in the process. The rescued individuals have since been reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists were recovered.

The Sokoto rescue follows earlier operations conducted on August 18.

In Kebbi State, acting on credible intelligence, troops executed a search-and-rescue mission in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, successfully rescuing three kidnapped victims. The individuals were profiled and handed over to local authorities.

Additionally, in Zamfara State, rapid mobilization by troops responding to reported terrorist activities in Tsafe Local Government Area compelled insurgents to flee, abandoning two wounded captives. Both victims received immediate medical evacuation for gunshot injuries sustained during their captivity.

The Theatre Command praised the troops for their swift response and vigilance, reiterating its commitment to maintaining operational pressure against terrorist networks across the region while encouraging the public to continue supplying timely and actionable intelligence to security forces.
