The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up in Oyo State to look into the Oriire abduction is calling for public memoranda.

The deadline for submission is Friday 14 August 2026.

The panel urged people with relevant information about the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Esinele and Yawota communities, or about the security response before, during, and after the incident, to submit such to assist the investigation.

Such individuals are advised to submit physically at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or electronically at oysjceoriireabduction@gmail.com.

"Include your full name, contact details, and any supporting documents.

"The Oyo State Government remains committed to the safety of every community," a note from the panel read.

Over 40 schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted from Oriire Local Government, Oyo State, by gun-wielding bandits and taken to the forest. The perpetrators then contacted authorities to demand Sharia law implementation in Oyo, the release of their colleagues in jail and money as ransom.

One of the teachers was beheaded on camera while another died in captivity. The schoolchildren were later rescued by security operatives weeks after they were abducted and taken for medical treatment.
