Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has come under sharp criticism following his recent outing for Galatasaray last weekend.

The 27-year-old was in action as Galatasaray played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Ligue 1 outfit Rennes at RAMS Park.

The Nigerian international opened the scoring early in the first half after getting on the end of an inch-perfect cross from Gabriel Sara.

During the course of the game, an incident in the second half raised eyebrows.

Osimhen declined the opportunity to wear the captain's armband after it was handed to him following the substitution of Abdülkerim Bardakcı in the 74th minute.

The decision to decline the captaincy has drawn criticism from some fans and pundits.

Turkish journalist Haşmet Babaoğlu has openly criticised the former Napoli striker, accusing him of playing for the transfer market.

“Osimhen, who played in the Rennes match, was as if he was playing for the transfer market,” Babaoğlu told Libero TV.

The criticism comes amid ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the former African Footballer of the Year.

Osimhen has attracted interest from Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and several Premier League clubs.
