How I feel when politicians mention my name on TV - Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has reacted to politicians mentioning his name during interviews.

This was during an interview with Channels TV's Sunday Politics, where host Seun Okinbaloye asked, "When politicians come on my programme and keep mentioning your name, how does that make you feel?"

In response, Obi said: "Calling me names doesn't make me feel anything. They are abandoning the issues we are supposed to discuss and discussing what I think is irrelevant. Instead of discussing the problems of the country, people come before you to discuss Peter Obi."

When asked about President Bola Tinubu, Obi called on him to step aside ahead of the 2027 election.

According to him, the President is “tired” and no longer has the capacity to tackle Nigeria’s mounting economic and security challenges.

Obi said this during an interview on Sunday Politics, aired on Channels Television.

"President Bola Tinubu is tired; he should be allowed to retire in peace and go home and rest," he said.

"The Bola Tinubu that was governor [in Lagos State] is not the one who is now president. He is leading us nowhere; he doesn't have the capacity to do the job," he adds.
