A Nigerian woman has publicly shared her account of what she describes as a traumatic encounter with officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to her, EFCC officials arrived at her home in the middle of the night, cut through the barbed wire surrounding the property after first testing it with an electrical tester, scaled the fence, and forced their way into the compound. She alleged that the officials broke down both her door and her tenant's door before entering the house.
The woman further claimed that she was assaulted while holding her newborn baby. She alleged that the officials took the baby from her arms and flung the child onto the bed before continuing to beat her. She also stated that despite searching their phones and thoroughly searching the house without finding anything incriminating, the officials still arrested and took her husband away.
She further alleged that she repeatedly informed the officials that she was naked and pleaded with them to allow her to get dressed before entering her room. However, she claimed they ignored her pleas and forced their way inside.
According to the woman, the officials also covered the property's CCTV cameras to prevent them from recording the operation. She further alleged that the officials beat her and recorded her while she was unclothed.
To support her claims, the woman showed what she said were injuries on her back, alleging they were sustained during the beating by the EFCC officials.
The video has since generated widespread reactions online, with many viewers calling for justice and condemning what they described as the officials' conduct during the operation. Others also questioned the methods allegedly used by the EFCC, particularly at a time when insecurity remains a major concern across many parts of Nigeria.
The EFCC has its own operational procedures, and this video reports the woman's allegations as presented. Any response from the agency, if issued, would provide additional context.
