I joined politics because of insecurity - Senator Maidoki

Senator Garba Maidoki Senator Garba Maidoki

Garba Maidoki, the representative for Kebbi South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, revealed that his entry into politics was driven by the pervasive insecurity in his constituency.

During a Tuesday appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Maidoki explained that he was not initially interested in politics; however, the persistent threats and instability in his area compelled him to get involved.

Reports from MyNigeria indicate that Maidoki left the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, opting to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision came in the wake of ongoing internal disputes within the ruling party, exacerbated by the recently concluded primaries in Kebbi State.

“The only reason I joined politics is because of the insecurity in my area. I have no interest in doing politics.

“We have done everything we can to protect ourselves at the community level. Then it dawned on us that if we use our ballot papers wisely, it is better than using our bullets,” he said.
