The newly appointed Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso, wants to bring a player from his previous club, Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window.
Alonso is scheduled to assume the managerial position at Chelsea starting July 1.
He has entered into a four-year contract with the club and is anticipated to play a significant role in player recruitment throughout his tenure.
As reported by SPORTBible, Alonso is eager to reconnect with a player from Real Madrid. The Spanish manager is said to maintain regular communication with Turkish midfielder Arda Guler and aspires to sign him.
Guler was a key player in Alonso’s squad during his time at Madrid, participating in 25 matches this season alone, after having only 24 appearances in the two preceding seasons.
In a recent interview with Turkish media outlet TRT Spor, Guler expressed his support for Alonso following his appointment as Chelsea manager, stating:
“The truth is that we had a brilliant relationship. I felt as though he’d handed me the keys.
“It was exactly what I was looking for, honestly. Now he’s signed for Chelsea. I hope everything goes well for him. Of course, we’re still messaging each other.”
Guler is estimated to be valued at approximately €90 million. However, for Chelsea to secure his transfer from Real Madrid, they would need to invest over €100 million, as the Turkish international is contracted with Los Blancos until 2029.
