The 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has reportedly failed to secure the 2027 Lagos governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to which he defected a few months ago.

According to results circulating on social media, Rhodes-Vivour was defeated by Princess Oyefusi, who emerged as the ADC governorship candidate following a primary election.

Oyefusi scored 8489 votes, while Rhodes-Vivour polled 4545 to emerge a distant third behind Afeeze Olasunkanmi, who got 7594 votes.

This comes days after a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, advised him to ignore his gubernatorial ambition.

Rhodes-Vivour contested the 2023 election but lost to incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In 2026, he dumped LP to pitch his tent with ADC, hoping to contest the Lagos governorship in 2027.

However, Igbokwe believes that Rhodes-Vivour should start his political career at the local government level.

He shared on Facebook, "I will honestly advise Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to start his political ambition in Lagos from the Local Government. Presiding over Lagos is not a job for the boys."
