Leicester announce Aribo’s exit

Joe Aribo Joe Aribo

Leicester City have confirmed that Joe Aribo will leave the club following the expiration of his loan spell, as part of a wider summer clear-out announced in their retained list published on Sunday.

In an official statement on the club’s website, Leicester said a total of 10 men’s first-team players will depart at the end of their contracts this summer, while several loan players, including Aribo, will return to their parent clubs following the conclusion of their temporary stays.

The club added that extension options have been taken up on five academy players, alongside contract offers made to several youngsters as part of squad restructuring following relegation to League One.

Aribo, who joined Leicester on loan from Southampton, is among those returning to their parent clubs, with his deal set to run at Southampton until June 2026.

The midfielder had been expected to depart after discussions over a permanent move failed to progress, with reports indicating his reluctance to continue in England’s third tier following Leicester’s relegation.

“In addition to those players, the loan spells of Jordan James, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Aribo, Dujuan Richards and Divine Mukasa will all end and see the players return to their parent clubs,” the club’s statement read.

Leicester also confirmed the exit of several senior figures, including captain Ricardo Pereira, who leaves after eight seasons and more than 200 appearances, as well as Patson Daka, Jordan Ayew, Jamaal Lascelles and academy graduate Wanya Marçal. Goalkeeper Asmir Begović remains in talks over a possible extension.
