The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has suspended a referee, Yakubu Adamu, from all league and football matters.
According to information made available on the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, official X account, Adamu was sanctioned for his decision to award a penalty during the Rangers versus Bendel Insurance match which is not in line with the provisions of the Law of the Game.
The NFF’s Refereeing Development Committee ruled that his action affected the outcome of the game.
Adamu’s decision also brought the game into disrepute, according to the committee.
Rangers won the matchday 37 encounter 2-1 to maintain top spot on the NPFL table.
The Flying Antelopes and Rivers United will battle for the title on the final day of the season.
Rangers will be away to Ikorodu City, while Rivers United will host Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
