The Presidency has mocked former presidential candidate Peter Obi for stating that he will leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) if the same issues that played out during his time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recur.

Obi left the PDP to join the Labour Party in 2022 after it became clear he wouldn't get the party's presidential ticket.

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar eventually got the PDP ticket, with backing from former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.

Both Atiku and Tambuwal are now in the ADC with Obi and are all vying to emerge as the party's presidential candidate.

Speaking during an Arise TV interview, Obi said, "I left PDP (2022) because people were not playing by the rules, it was transactional, and I could not be part of a transactional primary."

When reminded that he's now in ADC with the same transactional people that made him run away from the PDP, he said, "I’m in ADC with the same people, but we’re going through the same process. If that process is compromised again, I will speak out."

Reacting, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, knocked Obi for always defecting from political parties.

He shared on X, "Peter Obi, the peripatetic, opportunistic and inconsistent politician ever to operate in Nigeria hints that he may leave the ADC, the way he left APGA, PDP and Labour. Listen to him."

Also, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy, Daniel Bwala, stated that the interview shows that Obi has no character and principle.

He shared on X, "Yesterday on Arise TV, Gregory @PeterObi was asked a question about his nomadic politics, since his Trojans love questioning Peoples character on that; his answer buried their heads in shame. APGA, PDP, Labour, ADC and soon to be another political party.

"His answers showed how awful his character and philosophy is. He said anytime there is problem, he jumps away because the problem was created for him. Imagine the character that said he wants to govern Nigeria?

"Today is a day devoted to swallowing shame by the Obidient globally: WORLD SHAME DAY

"Hear him out here, no character, no principle. Looking for an easy way and the easy way is adoption as the sole candidate; fears primaries because he knows he doesn’t have structures.

"Let me predict again. He will leave ADC and go and run under a platform that will adopt him. Always running from responsibility and his brainless Trojans would be castigating others for what their hero is an MVP on."
