The Lagos State Police Command has said it is aware of the circulating message alleging a possible cult-related clash in some areas of the State, particularly Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga axis, purportedly in retaliation for a reported incident.

The incident alluded to by the police is the killing of Adedipe Adeyinka, popularly known as Agali, who headed the dreaded Buccaneers gang in Surulere.

The Command stated that it has taken proactive and decisive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the affected areas and beyond. It said following the initial report of the incident, prompt deployment of police personnel and operational assets was carried out to all the mentioned locations and other adjoining communities.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has directed intensified patrols, strategic positioning of officers, and increased police visibility across the identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property. The areas are well secured, and adequate security coverage has been emplaced to deter any unlawful gatherings or activities.

The Command stated that there is no cause for alarm and urged residents to go about their lawful duties without fear or apprehension, as the Police and other security agencies remain fully on ground and committed to maintaining peace and order.
