A missionary in Nigeria, Alex Babir, has said he's glad that his activities in the country are upsetting Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi and former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad.

Babir was one of those who visited the scene of the Palm Sunday terrorist attack on Christians in Jos, Plateau State.

However, since his video interviewing survivors, Gumi and Ahmad have been expressing displeasure on social media.

In a post on Facebook, Sheikh Gumi described Babir: "CIA agent stirring religious unrest in Plateau State. He needs to be held accountable."

On his part, Ahmad, who served as presidential aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, called on authorities to arrest Babir.

“Now, it is unjustifiable to arrest Nigerians for expressing their views or opinions about other countries, while at the same time allowing a foreigner to operate freely within our borders, publicly spreading hatred and attempting to incite violence,” he said.

“The relevant authorities should take immediate steps to caution Alex Babir and, if necessary, apprehend him, then send him back to his country in the interest of maintaining peace and order,” Ahmad added.

Reacting, Babir wrote on X, "Grateful to have upset Bashir and Gumi. Clearly, when the evil of Muslims massacring Christian’s are exposed and brought to the world, the terrorists and their sympathisers don’t like this. Light will purge the darkness, and this evil won’t reign in Nigeria forever."
