Principal officers of the National Assembly, including the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, have congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his 74th birthday.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, in separate statements, also paid tribute to Tinubu.
Tinubu turned 74 on Sunday, March 29.
Akpabio, in a congratulatory message he signed, described Tinubu as an audacious and visionary leader with the Midas touch to reset the country.
He noted that the President had demonstrated “astute leadership, advocating for democratic values and bold economic reforms,” adding that although the reforms came at a cost, they had already begun to yield dividends.
He pledged the Senate’s continued support for Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the National Assembly would continue to collaborate with and complement his efforts to bequeath enduring and indelible legacies for future generations.
“Mr President, I must admit that you are an audacious and visionary leader whose quest to set the nation on a transformational pedestal is never in doubt.
“Your leadership, vision, and dedication to our great nation are truly inspiring. As Senate President, I have had the privilege of working closely with you, and I must say that your passion for Nigeria’s progress is contagious,” Akpabio said.
Abbas, in a congratulatory message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, described the President as a pro-democracy figure, seasoned public administrator and freedom fighter who has made significant contributions to the country’s democratic journey.
He said Tinubu had built a strong network of progressive Nigerians committed to the vision of a better country and collective national pride.
The statement added, “Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, Nigeria is recording far-reaching reforms and realignment of its resources for the betterment of the people and for generations to come.
“When President Tinubu assumed office, he confronted the challenges facing the country head-on with unprecedented courage, taking tough decisions, which have since started yielding fruitful results and taking Nigeria to the path of growth and development.”
Abbas also pointed to ongoing reforms under the administration, noting improvements in revenue, transparency, infrastructure and security coordination.
In the same vein, Kalu praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as visionary and impactful.
In a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogwu, Kalu said the President’s tenure had helped shape the country’s trajectory and positioned the country for greater progress.
He commended Tinubu’s commitment to national development and his economic policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The economic initiatives and policies anchored on the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda will continue to impact positively on the citizens and the generations to come,” Kalu said.
The Deputy Speaker also wished the President continued good health and wisdom in steering the affairs of the nation.
“His Excellency, as you celebrate another year of life, I acknowledge your dedication to public service. I celebrate not just your life, but the impact your administration has had on our country. Your visionary leadership has shaped our nation’s destiny. May your vision continue to guide us towards greatness. I wish you many more years in good health and the wisdom to continue piloting the affairs of our nation. Happy Birthday, Your Excellency. Congratulations, sir,” Kalu added.
On his part, Jibrin commended Tinubu’s leadership and reform efforts since assuming office in May 2023, noting that his administration had remained focused on repositioning the country for long-term growth and stability.
Barau’s remarks were contained in a congratulatory message issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.
He said, “Happy 74th birthday to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Tinubu.
“He is a visionary leader who has been working tirelessly for the past 34 months to reposition our country for the benefit of both present and future generations.”
Barau also offered prayers for the President, asking God to grant him sound health and longevity to realise his vision of transforming Nigeria into a prosperous nation.
The deputy senate president further expressed optimism about Tinubu’s electoral prospects, projecting a decisive victory for the President in the 2027 general election.
“By the grace of God, Nigerians will overwhelmingly vote for President Tinubu come January 16, 2027, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct the presidential election.
“I have no doubt that by this time next year, when we will be celebrating his 75th birthday, he will be the president-elect for his second term. The victory will herald his birthday celebration,” he said.
Barau urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration, stressing that the President remains committed to advancing the nation’s development and addressing its challenges.
Senator Barau, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, reaffirmed the backing of the National Assembly for the President’s policies and programmes.
He said, “We stand with the President on this journey to address our nation’s challenges for the benefit of our people.”
