Demola Olarewaju, a Special Political Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has recalled how his boss set up a loan scheme in Adamawa and loaned money to some men who defaulted.
According to him, the same experience was had by former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko.
He said both men concluded that the men who took the loan ended up marrying more wives and drinking more beer.
Olarewajus said this in reaction to a Moniepoint research that showed women-owned businesses in Nigeria had 2.5 times lower loan default rate than men.
He shared on X, "Former VP Atiku Abubakar set up a revolving loan scheme in Adamawa and came up with this conclusion.
"Former Gov. Mimiko set up a Govt Loan scheme in Ondo and concluded same, going further to say the men they loaned money to tended to marry more wives or consume more beers."
