A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, has told billionaire Obi Cubana and socialite Cubana Chief Priest to ignore critics of their support for President Bola Tinubu.
Since both men declared support for Tinubu by promoting his City Boy Movement, many from their Igbo ethnic group have been insulting them on social media.
According to critics, their action is a betrayal of the Igbo agenda, especially since an Igbo man, Peter Obi, is also likely to contest Tinubu in 2027, as he did in 2023.
However, Igbokwe urged both men to ignore the critics, describing them as ignorant people without soul, character, love, and integrity.
He wrote on Facebook, "Obi Cubana, Chief Priest and others should ignore the lazy antics of our people in the SE who are trying to blackmail you people from building bridges of friendship across Nigeria. They have nothing to bring to the table. They are ignorant people without soul, character, love, and integrity. They cannot play politics. They sit in one small corner, making all the noise without real substance. These educated illiterates do not know that politics is a game of numbers. You work with others and others will work with you.
"Some of us who understand the need to build bridges of friendships across Nigeria if we really want to produce the President of Nigeria are being assaulted by political illiterates. You cannot do it alone. South East can never produce the President of Nigeria unless we build alliances with major ethnic groups in Nigeria. Votes from SE alone cannot make an Igbo man the president of Nigeria.
"Let us stop killing our people in the name of the useless and moribund Biafra project. We are not even thinking of our huge investments across Nigeria. Let these educated illiterates clear away from my line of vision. We are in the 21st century. We need to think deeper, we need to count the losses, the casualties, the waste of Human Resources, the butcher of SE for near 15yrs. Umu Igbo get up and go. Free yourself from bigotry and ethnic preoccupation. The world is now a village."
