Campaign posters promoting former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 presidential election have appeared in parts of Kaduna, sparking fresh political speculation about a possible return to the nation’s top office.

The posters, sighted in several locations across the city on Monday, were pasted at strategic points and quickly drew the attention of commuters and residents.

Some of them were spotted along the busy Ahmadu Bello Way and around Kawo Bridge, where passers-by reportedly paused to observe the messages displayed.

The posters carried inscriptions such as “One Term to Reset, One Nation to Unite” and “2027: Sai Maimalfa,” triggering discussions among residents and political observers about the possibility of Jonathan re-entering the presidential race.

A group identified as the GEJ Restoration Movement claimed responsibility for the posters, describing the initiative as a grassroots effort aimed at encouraging the former president to consider contesting the next presidential election.

Members of the group said Jonathan remains a respected national figure whose leadership, in their view, could help bridge political divisions and address some of the country’s economic challenges.

The development has generated debate within political circles, with some analysts suggesting the posters could indicate early political realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.

However, supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu downplayed the development, describing it as a routine political occurrence often seen years before major elections.

They maintained that the appearance of early campaign materials should not necessarily be interpreted as confirmation of Jonathan’s intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.
