A former member of the House of Representatives, Dapo Lam-Adesina, has described the peaceful conduct of the congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State as an indication that the party is ready to take the state in 2027.
Lam-Adeshina also hailed the election of new party executives in the state.
The Oyo chapter of the APC had during the congress, which held on Tuesday, elected Moses Adeyemo as its chairman.
Adeyemo, who hails from Igboho in Oorelope LGA, served as deputy governor under the late Abiola Ajimobi from 2011 to 2019.
In a statement issued by his media office on Thursday, Lam-Adesina said the peaceful conduct of the party’s congresses across wards and LGAs and the state and the emergence of new leaders is a sign that the APC in Oyo is fully prepared for the 2027 elections.
He noted that the emergence of Adeyemo, who according to him, is a unifying factor, will put the party in a good stead ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that his emergence through consensus speaks volume about the unity within the APC in the state.
“Congratulations to our dear father and the new chairman of the APC in Oyo State. His emergence is, without doubt, the dawn of a new era for the party.
“He’s bringing his years of political and administrative experience to lead the party to victory next year,” Lam-Adesina said.
“This is the time for us to take the state back from the opposition, and we are ready to do that with the new chairman and his executives in front of us.”
According to the adjusted APC 2026 schedule of nationwide congresses, national convention and related activities, signed by Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary, appeals arising from the congresses will be heard on Wednesday, March 4.
