The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal, has reiterated its sustained commitment to crime prevention and the protection of lives and property across the State through continuous patrols, intelligence-led operations, and strategic deployments in vulnerable areas.

On 19th February, 2026, the Commissioner of Police led a high-powered delegation of heads of security agencies—including the Commander, 32 Brigade Artillery of Nigeria Army; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); and the Director, Department of State Services (DSS)—to the scene of the tragic incident at Agamo Town, where Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledon was attacked on 18th February, 2026, at about 7:10 p.m.

Following an on-the-spot assessment, CP Lawal proceeded to the palace of the deceased monarch, where he condoled with the family and the entire community over the unfortunate incident. He assured them that the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, would spare no effort in ensuring that the perpetrators are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice.

Preliminary investigations reveal that approximately six masked armed men stormed the residence of the monarch, forcibly abducted him from his compound, and violently attacked him, leading to his death.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel and operational assets to the community, including the Command’s Tactical Teams, with a clear mandate to track down and apprehend the suspects.

CP Lawal also expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his visionary leadership, unwavering support, and continuous provision of operational guidance and resources, which have significantly strengthened crime-fighting efforts and proactive policing across the country.

The Commissioner further emphasised that effective policing is best achieved through synergy, vigilance, and active collaboration between the Police and the public. He therefore urged residents to promptly volunteer credible and actionable information that can aid ongoing investigations and enhance community safety.
