Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the widow of the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has said Sunday Igboho is the equivalent of jailed terrorists Nnamdi Kanu.
This was after a Southeast monarch, Igwe Dr. Lawrence Agubuzu, lamented that there are plans to honour Sunday Igboho, whom he described as Kanu’s South-west counterpart.
He said at a gathering, "The youths in the South-east see us as sell-outs; when we come to Abuja, they think we come to collect money and keep quiet on these issues. Mr President should do something about Nnamdi Kanu. We cannot make progress in this country if we don't tell ourselves the whole truth."
Reacting, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu seconded the monarch, saying on X, "Sunday Igboho is Nnamdi Kanu's counterpart. Gbam! Tel dem o. Eze birikwa o."
Igboho was recently grated presidential pardon after he was declared wanted by the past administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari for chasing Fulani terrorists from his Igboho hometown. He was never arrestd neither was he charged with any crime.
Kanu, on the other hand, was arrested for terrorism and treasonable felony, with multiple pieces of evidence tendered in court that informed the life sentence handed to him. He's currently serving his sentence in a Sokoto prison.
