Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has responded to a threat by former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, who has threatened to spill more details about the meeting betweenhis boss and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

MyNigeria reported that the meeting was held at the Minna residence of former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, on Tuesday.

Shortly after the meeting, Fayose revealed that the purpose was for Makinde to serve as Atiku's running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

This was rubbished by a statement from Atiku's media aide, Phrank Shaibu, which described Fayose's words as beer parlour gossip.

The statement read, "Peter Ayodele Fayose's Beer Parlour Tales Of Infamy

"Our attention has been drawn to a reckless and malicious fabrication titled “Between Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,” attributed to one Peter Ayodele Fayose.

"Let it be stated clearly: the entire publication is a shameless concoction — a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip whose relevance survives only on controversy, distortion, and cheap propaganda.

"At no time did former Vice President Atiku Abubakar engage in the imaginary horse-trading described in that laughable script.

"There were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets. There were no discussions about ₦10 billion contributions. There were no zoning manipulations. There were no delegate-delivery guarantees. And there is certainly no clandestine “Dubai meeting” on any such agenda.

"The attempt to drag other political actors into this fabricated beer parlour tale does not elevate its credibility; it merely exposes the desperation behind it.

"His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s political engagements are broad-based, principled, and national in scope — not the narrow, transactional theatrics invented in that publication.

"The story is not insider information. It is insider fiction — manufactured to mislead, distract, and provoke.

"It is unfortunate that certain individuals, long deprived of credibility and political gravitas, now attempt to manufacture relevance by inventing tales around serious national figures. Falsehood may trend for a moment, but it collapses under the weight of truth.

"Atiku Abubakar does not transact politics in secrecy, bribery, or transactional desperation as mischievously and irresponsibly portrayed. He remains focused on principled engagement and national redemption — not backroom theatrics designed by attention-seekers.

"We advise the public to treat the publication with the contempt it deserves."

Reacting, Fayose urged Atiku to order the retraction of the statement within 48 hours or force him to release more details about his meeting with Makinde, and everything they said about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

He shared on X, "I saw the response of one Paul Ibe, one of the Media Aides to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to my release on what transpired at his (Atiku) meeting in Minna, with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and I can't but be amused.

"However, because of my respect for Atiku, I will want to assume that he did not authorise the press statement and I will expect that after seeing it, he will within 48 hours, cause a rebuttal to be issued on it.

"Should Atiku not publicly disown the statement within the next 48 hours, I will have no option but to spill more beans (the facilitors and executioners) of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Wike) and by then, I will be doing so without any atom of respect for him.

"Till then, we keep our gunpowder dry."

In response, Paul Ibe said the 48-hour ultimatum issued by Fayose is too long, adding that it must have been issued under the influence of something.

Ibe wrote, "I am not disappointed with one Peter Ayodele Fayose for his inability to make a distinction between Ambassador Phrank Shaibu and my humble self (Paul Ibe).

"Sir, if indeed you read the statement titled 'Peter Ayodele Fayose's Beer Parlour Tales Of Infamy', you would have seen that it was actually authored by Amb. Shuaibu and not Ibe. Is it possible that you may have been under the influence of some beverages when you read it? This only confirms that your tales are truly motivated by some aged beverages.

"Haba, is 48 hours not too long?

"Well, since you mentioned your oga in your ill-advised tweet, I do not need the services of a withdoctor to hazard a guess as to where you get your supplies from.

"Is it the 40-year-old Whiskey or you took a more aged version that needs more than 48 hours to 'clear' from your eyes?

"While I sympathise with your condition, I urge you to revert to me if you regain your sanity earlier than your projected recovery time of 48 hours."
