An 18-year-old wife, Khadija Jamilu, has allegedly stabbed her husband in the genitals during a domestic dispute in Potiskum, Yobe State.
Jamilu, according to the police, fled after stabbing her husband with a knife in the early hours of Friday.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Dungus Abdulkarim, said in a statement on Saturday that the 25-year-old husband sustained a cut and was rushed to a federal medical centre in Azare, Bauchi State.
“On February 6, 2026, at about 0100 hours, the suspect, Khadija Jamilu, an 18-year-old female of Potiskum Local Government Area, allegedly attacked her husband, aged 25 years, using a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on his genital organ.
“Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect, while investigation into the case is ongoing,” the statement added.
Abdulkarim said the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged couples to live peacefully, saying, “Marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance. Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation.
“Couples and intending spouses should seek proper counselling before and during marriage; embrace peaceful dialogue and anger management during conflicts; involve parents, guardians, religious leaders, or trusted mediators when misunderstandings escalate; and avoid resolving marital disputes through violence, as it often leads to irreversible consequences.”
