On February 5 in Washington, D.C., during the National Prayer Breakfast, President Donald Trump made a notable moment by publicly recognising Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The event, a yearly gathering of political figures, religious leaders, and faith-based communities, saw a brief yet significant pause as Trump acknowledged Mrs. Tinubu’s presence among the attendees.
In his speech, the U.S. leader emphasised her influential role and her deep Christian faith, noting her position as a pastor in one of Nigeria’s prominent churches and highlighting her spiritual stature and influence.
“We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria.
“A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much. It’s a great honor. Thank you very much. Very respected person, too,” Trump said as he scanned the room before acknowledging her.
