Maduka Okoye was delighted to help Udinese beat AS Roma in Monday night’s Serie A encounter.

The Zebras claimed a surprise 1-0 win over Gian Piero Gasperini’s side at the Bluenergy Stadium.

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp scored the winning goal from a deflected free kick four minutes after the break.

Okoye made a number of vital saves to help the home team preserve their lead.

It was a second consecutive win for Udinese.

The Nigeria international praised his teammates for their spirited effort in the game.

“I’m happy to have helped the team today. We put in a great team performance, I’m happy for ourselves and for the fans. We’re working hard, all united, from the players to the staff. We can compete with anyone,” he was quoted by the club’s official website.

The win propelled the Bianconeri to 32 points, tied for eighth in the standings with Lazio.
