The Ekiti State government has projected N8.8 trillion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the 2026 budget with a budget of N415.572.
The government said over N109 billion will be used for infrastructure and industrial development in the budget, representing 57 percent in the capital expenditure allocation.
In the agriculture and rural development sector, the government allocated N42 billion, which represents 22 per cent, while human capital development has N16 billion, representing 9 percent in this year’s budget.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Olufemi Ajayi, gave the figure in Ado-Ekiti, at the public presentation of the 2026 Budget Breakdown and highlights held at the Lady Jibowu Hall.
Ajayi, said the “Budget of Impactful Governance”, is to further enhance the actualization of the 6-Pillar Agenda of the government which is also in consonance with the 30-year development plan of the state government.
On some selected major capital projects in the 2026 budget, the state government will improve on electricity supply to the public by purchasing and installing 40 transformers in Ado-Ekiti and other communities to the tune of N400 million.
In the Gender and Social Development sector, the government will construct an indoor sports hall in Ado-Ekiti for N1.2 billion and also rehabilitates the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium for N1.7 billion.
In the budget, new secondary schools will be constructed in Ado-Ekiti for N1.3 billion and the repairs of public secondary schools in the state for N1.4 billion.
Ajayi added that the administration is committed to fiscal accountability and transparency to achieve fiscal sustainability and macro-fiscal objectives of government.
