The Naira depreciated against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday ahead of the new year.
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the naira weakened on Tuesday to N1,445.68 per dollar, down from N1,442.51 traded on Monday.
This means that the Naira dipped by N3.17 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.
The last time the naira dropped against the dollar at the official foreign exchange was on December 18, when it stood at N1,457.84 per dollar.
Meanwhile at the black market, the Naira remained at N1,475 per dollar on Tuesday, the same exchange rate recorded the previous day.
The mixed sentiment in the country’s foreign exchange market comes despite the continued rise in external reserves, which rose to $45.45 billion as of December 29, 2025.
