Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has explained why his side suffered a disappointing defeat to Leeds United in the Premier League.
After a remarkable performance in November, the Blues were stunned 3–1 at Elland Road on Wednesday night.
Jaka Bijol gave the home side an early lead inside the sixth minute before Ao Tanaka doubled the lead for Leeds two minutes before the break.
Pedro Neto reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 50th minute before Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.
The result leaves the Blues nine points behind leaders Arsenal.
Speaking in his post-match reaction, Maresca admitted that Leeds United were the better side on the night.
“A very poor night, they [Leeds] deserved to win the game, they were better in all aspects.
“[We will] just try to analyse and learn from this game and focus on the next one.
“After the goal we scored we had one or two clear chances, but the third goal killed the game completely, and then it’s much more difficult.”
