The Department of State Services (DSS) has kept mum over the alleged summon of Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Peter Obi’s running mate in the Labour Party during the 2023 presidential election.

This follows a report on Friday that Baba-Ahmed, who doubles as the founder of Baze University, was invited by DSS over his comments alleged to be capable of escalating political tension in the country.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, unnamed security sources confirmed that the invitation followed concerns about Baba-Ahmed’s recent statements across media platforms, particularly his repeated claims of a looming “constitutional crisis.”

One of the sources said the 2023 Labour Party vice-presidential candidate recently appeared on national television, where he accused the judiciary and the military of enabling the swearing-in of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The source added that Baba-Ahmed allegedly suggested the military had been emboldened to “look you in the face and call you bloody fools” because of the inauguration.

“The secret police is treating his comments with caution. This is not about politics but about safeguarding the corporate existence of the nation,” the source stated.

As of the time of filing this report, the DSS has not issued an official statement regarding the development.
