Dangote Group has announced United States firm Honeywell International Inc. as its partner to accelerate the next phase of its petroleum refinery expansion to 1.4 million barrels per day capacity by 2028 from 650,000 bpd.
This was disclosed in a statement to DAILY POST by the company on Tuesday.
The firm said the collaboration reinforced the company’s ambition to operate the world’s largest petroleum refining complex.
Under the agreement, Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, equipment, and process technologies that will enable the refinery to efficiently process a wider range of crude grades, improve product quality, and enhance operational reliability.
The partnership also extends to Dangote’s petrochemical operations. Using Honeywell’s Oleflex technology, the company plans to scale polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tonnes annually—a vital material for packaging, manufacturing, and automotive industries.
Also, Dangote is advancing its fertiliser production, increasing urea output from 3 million to 9 million metric tonnes annually by adding four new production trains to its existing facility.
Dangote Group stressed its commitment to building world-class industrial capacity, enhancing Nigeria’s energy security, and driving sustainable economic growth through innovation, long-term investment, and strategic global partnerships.
DAILY POST reports that Dangote Refinery had announced a plan to expand its capacity to 1.4mbd to become the world’s largest refinery plant.
