First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed that Nigeria will remain united despite its current challenges, declaring that the country “will not disintegrate.” She made the remarks on Sunday during a Thanksgiving service held to honour the investiture of Most Rev. Sunday Onuoha as Archbishop on Special Duties at the Methodist Unity Cathedral in Abuja.
Tinubu was represented at the event by the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite. According to her, Nigeria’s stability rests in God’s hands, and she urged citizens to intensify prayers for the nation, the Church, and its leaders. “Nigeria will not disintegrate.
"Nigeria will remain one indivisible entity. God will be with Nigeria. We shall celebrate Christmas in peace and joy, and it shall be well with the nation. I congratulate the Archbishop on his new assignment,” she said. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, also addressed the gathering, stressing the need for stronger international partnerships to tackle Nigeria’s deepening security crisis.
He maintained that such cooperation would not undermine the nation’s sovereignty. He noted that the President is committed to global collaborations that benefit the country and highlighted the importance of engaging all stakeholders in resolving national issues.
Kalu emphasised the Church’s role in fostering peace, unity, and development, adding that faith institutions must continue to offer messages of hope and healing. He commended Archbishop Onuoha for his dedication to peacebuilding and for strengthening ties between the Church and the state.
