Paystack has announced the suspension of its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following allegations of sexual misconduct that quickly gained viral attention, the company confirmed on Friday.

An internal investigation has been promptly initiated. In a statement shared with TechCabal, Paystack emphasised their serious stance, stating, “We are aware of the allegations involving our co-founder, Ezra Olubi. Such matters are treated with utmost seriousness. Effective immediately, Ezra is suspended from all duties pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”

The company also indicated that they would refrain from further comment until the investigation concludes, citing respect for those involved and the integrity of the process.

The suspension comes in the wake of resurfaced social media posts from Olubi’s past, dating from 2009 to 2013, which contained sexualized comments about inappropriately touching a coworker and minors.

One notable tweet from May 23, 2011, joked, “Monday will be more fun with an ‘a’ in it. Touch a coworker today. Inappropriately.” Olubi has not issued any public response to the posts but has deactivated his X account.
