A video has surfaced on the internet showing alleged vote-buying in the ongoing Anambra State Governorship Election this Saturday.
The video shows a group of women in a queue walking towards two men who were handing Gala snacks, cans of Malt drinks and naira notes to them
According to X user, @ChuksEricE, who shared the video, "Gala and malt for voters at the ongoing governorship election Anambra State."
Reacting, @Tonybrainy said, "Gala and malt? Na democracy or break time snack? At this rate, Nigerians will soon start collecting recharge cards for Senate elections. Democracy on a budget. If you vote because of Gala and malt, don’t complain when your governor turns your state to pure water factory. So sad."
@Leespills said, "When they don’t provide roads, healthcare, schools, and employment, this is what they want to archive. When they impose harsh economic policies, this is also what they want to archive. They do this to almost every part of this country regardless of tribe or religion. Now tell me, who is the problem, the leaders or the people?"
@callmetunde_ said, "Gala and Malt today, four years of fasting tomorrow. Politicians know Nigerians are hungry — that’s why campaigns now come with catering service."
@lakaas123 said, "Imagine INEC actually enforces prosecution for vote buying in Anambra—how many people would still be left? (Remember, both the buyer and the receiver are guilty under the law.) Lawyers here, what’s your take?"
